Kit!{s/t} CDEP
Kit! is a female fronted melodic punk band heavily influenced by Discount, but mixed with neo-wave dance parts. The record is mid-tempo and filled with hooks. For fans of Discount and No Idea Records. It's all too tempting to compare this female-fronted pop-punk band to Discount or Tilt, but that would be selling them short because they have a wonderful and unique sound. Taking pop convention and adding in a very subtle pinch of a dance influence, they also add technical bass lines, which aren't usually present in pop-punk...I rarely fall for a band in such a rapid hook, line and sinker fashion as I have for Kit! Asthma Atttaq {Breathe Heavy} CD
Florida's Asthma Atttaq returns with a new genre bending full-length. Having drawn comparisons as varied from Jerome's Dream to Hella to Yes, Asthma Atttaq takes the listener through a winding corridor of punk, noise, free jazz, post-rock and melds them together flawlessly from song to song. It's once in a great while I will get a real gem like this album. Asthma Attaq are a spazz rock band who at times sounds like Lightning Bolt and at other times sounds like the Blood Brothers. Being able to fuse many genres is definitely one of this bands strong points and they do it quite well.- Impact Press #59

Attractive and Popular {Money Equals Magic} LP
Attractive and Popular began as a 3-piece in Lafayette, LA. Eventually, the lineup was fleshed-out to include two more members and the band started touring the U.S. virtually non-stop. Their live shows are packed full of energy, ridiculous dance moves, popped-out veins, and far-flung sweat. Sporting their custom-tailored sleeveless uniforms complete with gold sparkling dollar signs, A$P make for quite an "eyegasm." Their sound has been compared to XBXRX, Numbers, Le Shok, and Anavan. People say that A$P is fun. Perhaps the funnest band of all time? You be the judge!

Beau Navire is a fantastic 'screamo' band from San Francisco, featuring members of the legendary Loma Prieta and iwrotehaikusaboutcannibalisminyouryearbook. Hours is an incredible, emotional album. If you like bands such as Orchid, Funeral Diner, Ampere etc; this is essential listening. Meghan from PUNCH appears on two tracks. There is also a special 13minute surprise at the end of the CD, so keep listening once the album is over...

Black Label/Champions of a Bleeding Heart {split} 7"
Champions of the Bleeding Heart, from Bakersfield, CA, featured members that figured in such bands as Shahrazad (who put out a split 10″ with Makara), The Acrylics, My Increment, and Vendetta Red. Their song on this split is flaming fast and loud. Black Label employs some sick guitar shredding coupled with some snotty vocals, though sound strangely like Ettil Vrye.

New cass. by this french emo punk out fit. Bokanovsky play french emotional hardcore punk that reminds bands like HYACINTH, URANUS or some 90’s French emo hardcore bands. Full of passion ... Great.

Bolz'n {Riemen} minidisc
From the Pony Hell website:
Bolz'n from germany play some kind of technoisegrind/mathcore/idon'tlikethatgenrething... maybe all what can be said is, that all of them have an attraction and ambition to make the perfect noise... they toured w/ White Mice and played some memorable shows at the Wasted festivals. you won't belive this band is female fronted, but that's not the point .. the point is "no down-the-line" in the attitude of the bad, so for example: the band used for recording Riemen only equipment from the 60's - 70's - 80's, formerly tuned stuff from the former german democratic republic. After they finished recording, they splitted up. Only 20 CD-Rs got in traffic. So we're very happy, that the band said yes to give Riemen a little second chance on minidisc. the record comes in a black wooden case with the front logo and very hard to find transparent silkscreen on the back. each of the record is hand numbered. Limted to 25 pieces.

Carlisle was one of the great Florida screamo bands from the mid-late 90's, combining thick, melodic, and very catchy music with passionate hair raising screamed vocals. They pioneered the sound and no one has done it better since. This discography has both 7"s, comp. songs, and demo, plus 13 new or unreleased songs, most of which were recorded just for this project. The new stuff is just as passionate and great as the old stuff. Imagine Christie Front Drive with the vocalist from Frail. It might sound like and odd match, but one that fits.

Very rare obscure 90s emo release. The songs are Kingdom, and Too Far Gone. Multiple inserts included. Released by Act your Age Records, and Dosei Jidai Records. Members went on to play in Planes Mistaken for Stars. On white vinyl.

CLEANER / GANTZ - split CD (Japanese Version)
Cleaner is from Japan, forming a band with 1 vocal, 1 guitar, 1 drummer and 1 painter. All the songs are titled in japanese colors and the painter draws the atmospheric idea and picture that she sees on stage where the instrumental group performs such theme. Sounds are experimental and also formed tightly. sounds like ENVY, CONVERGE, HEADWAY, KULARA. Some of the members play in such bands as KILLIE and LHASA. Gantz is from France and has worked alot for the european scene by working their own label IMPURE MUZIK where the European version of this split CD is released by such label. Gantz has a close sound to PLAYING ENEMY and the extreme high tension of ENVY.

Cloud Rat {s/t} 7"
Heavy, blasting hardcore played mostly at a grinding pace, only slowing down to bludgeon you with crushing riffs. This record has an emotional honesty and intensity that is often lacking in bands this heavy, as the pained lyrics are spat out like so much venom. The lyrics deal with dark family issues of neglect and abandonment and the hurt is felt in the delivery, and as hard as they are to take, I feel they make the record all the more relevant. The packaging is made out of re-used record covers, screenprinted then re-glued, with a lyrics insert, all with original art from the band and friends. This is a split release with Otherwise Dead Records and Midwestern Decline Records.

First full length from these Washington D.C. legends. Definitely more punk sounding then later releases. Still nothing short of an amazing record. Hand screened covers and full zine insert(includes history and thoughts from band members). Think Dischord style hardcore with an early '90s twist. (repress)

Crow's Foot hails from Clearwater FL. These young punks take the blazing sound of bands like Bread and Water or Ballast, but add the passionate intensity of mid 90's anarcho/emo bands from France like Anomie. The album has 8 tracks exploring anger to serenity and their variations.

Following up their split lp with Fire Team Charlie as well their jaw dropping appearance at last year's Rok Lok Fest, Oklahoma's Damezumari are back with a brand new 4 song 7 inch. It is no easy to feat to keep hardcore/screamo interesting when there are literally thousands of bands across the world mining for gold in the scene, so it shouldn't be taken lightly how Damezumari continue to hammer out technically proficient yet melodically sensible tunes that always sound fresh and demand repeat listens. For fans of early Hot Cross, Off Minor, Four Hundred Years and Sinaloa. The record is a pressing of 492 on black vinyl, 6 on white vinyl, 1 on grey and one black/white swirl. DRUNK was formed by members of the punk/hardcore bands SO MUCH HATE and LIFE BUT HOW TO LIVE IT? in 1994. Both bands did numerous tours on the continent in the late 80's and early 90's. Among the true fans of punk and hardcore those old bands are still highly regarded. In 1996 the line-up in DRUNK was changed, and has stayed the same for more than ten years. DRUNK developed their own style without loosing their roots in punk. The music is dynamic and melodic, going from soft to hard at the flip of a coin, giving you a live show you would hate to miss. This 7" is loooooong out of print.

Long Island indie rock unite!! Dude Japan plays 90s styled lo fi indie rock/pop like Velocity Girl, Further, Superchunk and Tiger Trap. While on the flip side Weed Hounds play a style that is a mix between Swirlies, My Bloody Valentine and Dinosaur Jr. A limited pressing of 300 with full color covers and a insert.

Eel {People People} CD
Vocalist/multi-instrumentalist Eel and programmer Sandou paint their songs with everything under the Eastern and Western suns, combining Puffy Amiyumi's fluffy, cheeky fun with the Dead Kennedys' aural assault and the brightly colored, bug-eyed vibe of fast-forwarded Tivo cartoons. For "People People", they hammer bowling pin strikes, cartoon cat meows, horse whinnies and other See and Say samples into a blues guitar and generic drum machine framework, while Eel sings the sort of lyrics that torture kids at Boy/Girl Scout camp ("oo ee, oo ah ah, zing zang walla, walla bing bang").

As part of the Albany music scene well known for its hardcore and metal, and veterans of heavy bands themselves, End Of A Year wanted to take it in a different direction. Inspired by the Revolution Summer period of the Washington, D.C. hardcore scene (ie. Rites Of Spring, Marginal Man, Gray Matter), End Of A Year decided that it is possible to be loud and honest while being tuneful. The music became a natural outgrowth of that position - melodic and, at times, pleasant but always gritty and married to a punk sensibility.

End of a Year is ex-members of Burning Bridges and Madeline Ferguson, back with 3 new songs in the vein of Fugazi or Rites of Spring. If their music doesn't take you back to early/mid 90's in DC, their attitude definitely will. Threefifteen's 2 new tracks will transport you back to a point in your life when Minor Threat was all that mattered. A classic sound with a modern edge.

Euclid {Hope: and songs to sing} LP
the long lost EULCID album finally sees the light of day! the band issued their stunning debut "the wind blew all the fires out" in 2002 and then seemed to disappear. EULCID mastermind Mike Law resurfaced in another amazing band, NEW IDEA SOCIETY. somewhere in between EULCID managed to record "hope: and songs to sing". shortly after the band broke up which unfortunately led to the album sitting on the shelves. thankfully, it has finally been released on vinyl by the fine folks over at Altin Village.

Even in Blackouts {Fall of the House of Usher} CD
For their third full-length release, Even In Blackouts has taken another step in the progression of their sound. This is fast classic hardcore-punk with a few modern twists. They manage to mix various older styles of punk and hardcore and come up with this. This re-release of the 41 short and bizarre tracks that comprise Mullet Fever gives fans a good insight into exactly how Topon Das’ early noise grind influenced the current embodiment of Fuck the Facts. With a few more releases under their belt, this look back to their roots makes it easy to trace their penchant for spastic while working mostly within a slightly longer, more structured plague metal approach. At times it seems the album may have been constructed purely to elaborate some humorous song titles, but for the most part it’s a very unique take on caustic grinding clamour. Random samples, talking moments and near jazz interludes are woven into feverish, bone crushing sonic cacophony. Haram Comprises seasoned veterans whose foray into territory most reminiscent of Drive Like Jehu and Sonic Youth is informed by the urgent ferocity of their previous bands. Jim Siegel recorded their first, Self-Titled LP, in Stoughton, Massachusetts. On this spectacular debut, Haram mines disparate facets of punk and noise to conjure something wholly cohesive and engaging. Matt Michel and Mike Taylor's dual guitars roil and churn, while Kevin Lamiell and Andy Gale form a kinetic and explosive rhythm section on bass and drums, respectively. Mörser {Pure Scum} LP
I don't think the Germans of Mörser need an introduction. Their first 2 full lengths 2 Hours To Doom and 10.000 Bad Guys Dead became cult albums and since then they've built a steady fanbase worldwide. It's been a while since they released something new though. In 2002 they released the mini cd Scum, the soundtrack for a comic with the same title. They were supposed to release another soundtrack for a comic called Pure but this release got postponed until it didn't get released at all. Now there is Pure Scum, which contains 5 new tracks (the songs meant for the comic Pure and 4 re-mastered songs (from the sold out comic Scum). On to the songs. This still has the trademark Mörser sound. It's heavy, mean, brutal and 100% metal and the two singers still grunt and scream like madmen. So nothing really changed since their last full length album 10.000 Bad Guys Dead. The new Pure songs have a better production than the old ones, which doesn't make them sound less brutal.

The band decided to call it quits after nearly 7 years together. Members of this band went on to form other bands in Iowa City and regionally but MBD still holds a special place in the hearts of all who were involved over the years.

The Only Ghost in Town {The Summer Was Over Before it Began} cassette
Every release I do is an absolute labor of love but this release definitely holds a special place in my heart. The Only Ghost in Town is a solo project by my friend Dan who is better known for holding down the low end in the excellent New Jersey based indie rock band By Surprise. Dan and I started exchanging emails back and forth discussing our mutual interest various indie rock and indie pop bands as well the aesthetic of lo fi culture. After awhile he let me know about this little project he had been cooking up. Within the first 15 seconds of the song "Like Candy" I was absolutely hooked on every fuzzy guitar note and reverb soaked vocal melody. And with each subsequent song that he sent me it just got better and better. To the point where I told him I had to release the songs in some manner on Rok Lok. We discussed it and felt that the cassette format would be ideal for this music. Personally, it brings me back to my roots of getting interested in DIY music by consuming Shrimper Records tape releases. The Only Ghost in Town plays super infectious lo fi indie pop/shoegaze that is in the vein of bands like Further, The Summer Hits, Drop Nineteens, Veronica Lake and Jesus & Mary Chain. The Spirit of Versailles {The Confluence of All of the Senses} CD
I found some of these CDs cleaning out a closet the other day and talk about a trip down memory lane. This CD was self-released to coincide with thier first tour. At the time, the Spirit of Versailles were a non-typical straightedge band, heavily influenced by Frail. They rode the wave of mid/late 90's emo (before the term "screamo" was popularized) along with Reversal of Man, Orchid, Portrait, and Jerome's Dream. Definitely an essential listen from the time period, which I always felt made a nice bookend to Reversal of Man's "Revolution Summer". Tanner their guitarist at the time now plays in Across Tundras.

Stars Are Insane {So. I Dreamed of Noise} 4xCD-R
In 2006 Stars Are Insane remastered and reissued all four out of print tape releases plus an album's worth of unreleased and live material as the four cd-r set of "So. I Dreamed of Noise". This offering here on Band Camp is the fourth disc of previously unreleased/live material from that collection. Stars Are Insane is a long running 4 track home recording project that was started in 1998 by Mike Andriani of Yes Sensei/Dude Japan that has mixed the lo fi sincere acoustic melodic-ism of early Sebadoh with the noisy, shoegazing guitar drones of My Bloody Valentine to create something rather unique. Predominantly a solo project with scattered accompaniment throughout the discography. Influenced by Shrimper Records, K Records, field recordings, collages and tape trading.

Talk Hard/Radical Attack {split} 7"
This is Talk Hard from Boston's second release. Their debut, the ‘Sarah Connor's Will’ 7" received tremendous critical acclaim for the intense and wonderfully intelligent lyrics. These three songs are a bit more metallic than on their debut, but still heavy hitting and they continue to write some of the best lyrics in hardcore today. This is Radical Attack's, from Quebec, second release as well. Their first being a split cd with Maine's Never Say Die. These five tracks are faster, more hardcore, and much better than their debut.

Make Way For The Ocean Floor consists of 10 well-crafted songs with a wonderful vibe of lo-fi and d.i.y aesthetics. The sound can be compared with some of the best stuff from the K Records bands (think early Modest Mouse, Microphones and even some Beat Happening), take that whole sound and mix it up with some Joan Of Arc, Owls and all those bands. Add some hints of The Head On The Door-era The Cure to that and you may be close!
